University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, On behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE) implemented Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) under HEQEP through joint financing of Bangladesh Government and World Bank. It is deployed as a high performance data Communications network providing connectivity among higher education and research institutions in both public and private sectors.

BdREN with its multi-gigabit capability aims to connect all universities, research institutions, medical colleges, libraries, laboratories, healthcare and agricultural institutions across the country and to support geographically dispersed academics, medical professionals, scientists and researchers with reliable access to high-end computing, simulation tools and datasets. With a view to implementing the BdREN backbone, UGC signed an IRU contract with Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Ltd. for using 2(two) core from its country-wide distributed OPGW network. Backbone network of BdREN is designed based on this optical fiber. BdREN is also connected with other regional and trans-continental Research and Education Networks (RENs) (e.g. TEIN, GEANT, Internet2 and others). It has interlinked the faculties and students of Bangladesh to the global academic community and learning resources. It also facilitates international collaborative research and catalyzes innovation in the country. BdREN is being operated as a Non-profit Trust organization with a board of trustees consisting of representatives from the universities/user communities, UGC, MoE and other members co-opted for their expertise and position in relevant industries.

Payment and Refund Policy

• Paid license holders must make timely payments to renew or extend licenses.
• Refunds for the remaining unused period will be issued if a paid license is cancelled for reasons not attributable to the user.

1. Acceptable Use Policy

• Licenses must be used solely for educational, research, or training purposes as per BdREN guidelines.
• Sharing of login credentials is strictly prohibited.
• You must conduct yourself ethically during Zoom sessions.

2. License Duration and Renewal

• You must renew or extend Zoom licenses before expiration to maintain access. Renewal is subject to BdREN’s terms and conditions.

3. Cancellation and Reallocation

• Licenses may be cancelled for non-compliance with usage policies, expired payments, inactivity, breach of terms, or security concerns.
• BdREN reserves the right to reallocate licenses due to resource constraints or changing organizational priorities.
• No refunds are provided for cancellations due to non-compliance or breach of terms.

5. Meeting Conduct

• You are expected to maintain professionalism and courtesy during meetings.
• Disruptive or offensive behavior may result in immediate termination of the session and license.

6. Prohibition of Political Discussions

• You are expressly forbidden from using BdREN-allocated Zoom licenses to hold meetings that are political in nature. This includes, but is not limited to, discussions aimed at political campaigning, political debates, or sessions that could influence political actions or affiliations. BdREN is committed to maintaining a neutral platform focused on educational, research, and training activities. Violation of this policy may result in immediate cancellation of the Zoom license without a refund.

7. Security and Privacy

• Users must adhere to security protocols set by BdREN.
• Any detected security breach should be reported immediately to BdREN.
• Your shared personal information like your name, email, phone number will be handled in accordance with BdREN’s privacy policy.

8. Enforcement and Review

• BdREN will enforce these terms and conditions and may review them periodically.
• You are responsible for staying informed about any changes to the policy.

Disclaimer

• BdREN may modify or terminate the Zoom license policy at any time without prior notice.
• Allocation of licenses is contingent upon available resources and institutional priorities.
